Extra - Curricular Activities
The extra-curricular program in Shalhevet is the school's ruach (excitement). The programs that we have in Shalhevet are created with intent in order to facilitate achdus (unity) between students, helping them to form relationships in a positive way. The extra-curricular activities generate the development of responsibility and leadership and allow our students the opportunity to express their creativity and individuality.
Our extra-curricular program includes, but is not at all limited to, the following:
We also have a vibrant Student Council whose specialty is keeping school days fun and exciting. Just a few of the programs that our Student Council has going on this year are:
Mishmeres is a speech awareness club whose goal is to encourage positive speech in school and out of school. At Mishmeres, the girls learn the halachos (laws) of Shmiras Halashon (guarding the tongue), while participating in various activities and games.
Our Chessed initiative requires each student to spend a minimum of 30 hours volunteering their time helping individuals and the Vancouver community at large. The majority of the Shalhevet students have taken on roles as T-Jex Buddies, mentoring Jewish public school students in the afternoon Hebrew school. This gives our girls the opportunity to learn valuable teaching skills, while providing these public school children with Hebrew skills and a Jewish education.
We have many more programs and initiative that fill our school with fun and excitement. A few of them are: Birthday Club, Big Sister/Little Sister with Vancouver Hebrew Academy, Cake-Decorating Club, DIY Club, and more! Come and check them out!
