Our Chessed initiative requires each student to spend a minimum of 30 hours over the year volunteering their time giving back to the Vancouver Community that has given them so much. Shalhevet students are involved in both helping individuals and the Vancouver Community at large. The majority of our students have taken on roles as T-Jex Buddies, mentoring Jewish public school students in the afternoon Hebrew school. This gives our young women the opportunity to learn valuable teaching skills, while providing these public school children with Hebrew skills and a Jewish education. Our students are also active in their shuls, running and supporting programming. In addition, we have students volunteering at nursing homes, visiting the elderly, and helping busy mothers.
